On 16 November, Lab member Ina Sander had her PhD examination at Cardiff University and passed with no corrections (the highest type of a pass that the UK PhD system awards). The title of her thesis is “Toward Critical Datafication Literacy: The Role of Online Resources in Fostering Critical Education about Datafication”.
Supervised by Lab co-Directors Joanna Redden and Arne Hintz, Ina has delivered a significant contribution to the growing debate about critical data literacy, which offers a new understanding of the skills and knowledges required in a datafied society. As part of her PhD, she worked with the organisation Privacy International on an online guide to teaching and training data literacy. Further, she made important contributions to the Lab’s report on Civic Participation in the Datafied Society from 2022.
Congratulations to Ina on this outstanding achievement!.
